Today at the Hermitage of the Carceri two communities are present who remain here the whole year; one made up of four brothers of the Order of the Friars Minor (Franciscans), and the other a community of Missionary Poor Clares of the Holy Sacrament (Franciscan sisters) who received the charge of religious animation of the sanctuary and of welcoming the numerous pilgrims who every year visit these places.

Pilgrims are welcomed as singles or as groups… both those who are in a rush and those who wish to do a thorough visit, who want to find out something more… For those who desire a guided visit by one of the religious of the Hermitage, it becomes a real and true catechesis on the “spirit of prayer and contemplation” here lived by St. Francis.
